Covid is banished…and now the new challenge.

Returning to daily activities….that’s the new challenge. There is the possibility of fear now, because despite all our best efforts, we still got it. We wore masks, we washed hands, we limited our activities and the people we were around. Still, it found us. I am not afraid for us, because we probably have some immunity for a little while, but I could be afraid for others. I say “could be” because there is always a choice to cling to fear or to cling to hope. And there is always hope, my friends.

There is also the fear of other’s fear. Because “fear leads to anger… anger leads to hate… hate leads to suffering.” (Yoda) It is out of fear that people reject and snub others who have had C-19. I have heard the tales. And so I wonder, will that happen to our family? Can my kids go to school confident that they are safe from the fear of others?

One thing I know my kids witnessed during this time was the generosity and love of others. They saw people bring groceries and treats. They saw us chatting on the phone when people called to check on us. They saw their dad letting me sleep and doing the housework when I was too sick to get out of bed. And so I have hope that even if we encounter the fear of others, all of the good that came before will take precedence over the negativity of a few. Thank you, by the way, to those of you that checked in, brought groceries that included treats for the kids. You have made a lasting impact on the hearts of my family. We will pay it forward!
